The Dutch economy aims to be completely circular by 2050.
Essentially, this means that waste will become a raw material, that every product must be designed to have another use or to be reusable.
The days of endlessly plundering the earth for new raw materials is over, we need to think more, think better and reimagine what we have.
In Utrecht, a company saw an opportunity to reuse wine bottles, (rather than crushing, melting and reforming them, which still uses 85% of the energy required to make new glass). "Rebottled" take the used bottle and cut them, to make tumblers, drinking glasses, carafes and more. So far they have reused 400,000 wine bottles, saving 150,000kwh of energy.
At StyleBarn we are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase these superb products. This is the direction that the Irish economy must take, in order to meet our agreed emission reduction targets. Rebottled show that you can create chic consumer goods out of a waste product. It is time to slow the endless cycle of disposable consumerism and realise that we can still have "nice stuff", we just have to start thinking a little more creatively.
What ReBottled are doing, fits our mission statement of "Buy Less, Buy Better" and we are really looking forward to introducing you to their products.
